What pump.fun really is

4 min · start here

Anyone can create a token in about forty seconds. No code, no money, no permission. That is the whole point — and the whole problem.

The bonding curve. Price rises automatically as people buy — nobody sets it.

There is no order book at the start. A formula decides the price: each purchase pushes it up, each sale pushes it down. When roughly $69,000 of buying accumulates, the token graduates — it moves to a real exchange and the curve stops mattering.

Minute 0 — creation

Someone uploads an image, picks a name, pays about 0.02 SOL.

Minute 0–30 — the curve

Price climbs with every buy. This is where most tokens die quietly.

Graduation — around $69K

Liquidity moves to a real pool. Roughly 1 in 100 tokens gets here.

After — the real test

Now anyone can sell freely. Most charts go straight down from here.

The number that matters. Out of a thousand tokens launched today, maybe ten will graduate and one will still exist next month. Everything below is about telling them apart.

02

Launching a coin — step by step

3 min · so you know what the other side does

You do not need to launch anything. But you need to know exactly what a creator can do, because every trick below will be used on you.

pump.fun · create
1 upload image → dog.png
2 name / ticker → DOGWIFCAP / $DWC
3 description → "he wifs a cap"
4 socials → x.com/... (optional)
5 dev buy0.0 – 5.0 SOL ← the important one
cost: ~0.02 SOL · time: 40 seconds

Step five is where honesty is decided. Dev buy means the creator buys his own token before anyone else sees it. Small amount: normal, he wants skin in the game. Large amount: he owns the supply and you are his exit.

Red flags
  • Dev buy above 5% of supply
  • Fifty wallets buy in the same block
  • Image reused from another token
  • Creator launched 300 coins this month
Green flags
  • Dev holds 1–3% and keeps holding
  • Buyers arrive gradually, not at once
  • Original art, working socials
  • Creator has one or two past launches
A bundle: one wallet funding thirty others. The chart shows thirty buyers. There is one.
03

Reading GMGN in 30 seconds

4 min · the part that saves money

GMGN shows what the chart hides. You are looking for four numbers. One bad number ends the conversation — you move on to the next token.

🐸 $DWCchecked 14 seconds after launch SKIP
Top 10 holders61%
Bundle share58%
Dev walletsold everything
Creator launches312
Mint revokedyes

Four out of five numbers are bad. The chart for this token looked perfect at the time — vertical green candle, hundreds of buys. That is exactly what a bundle looks like from the outside.

the thirty-second check
→ gmgn.ai → paste contract address → Security tab
top 10 holders under 25% pass
! top 10 holders 25 – 40% careful
top 10 holders above 40% skip
bundle share above 50% skip
honeypot = yes skip
sell tax above 10% skip

Top 10 above 40% ends it. Four people can zero the price before your sell transaction confirms. It does not matter how good the meme is.

04

A real session, minute by minute

5 min · nobody describes this honestly

Videos show someone hitting 100x every other day. A real session looks like this, and it is worth knowing before you start — otherwise you will think you are doing it wrong.

two hours · typical
00:00 warm up — what is the market doing today

00:18 token #1 skip bundle 71%
00:19 token #2 skip dev holds 12%

01:34 token #56 ENTER fixed size, exit planned
01:35 waiting — the hardest part
result: 55 no · 1 yes · laptop closed
What people imagine
  • All day at six monitors
  • Winning trades every day
  • Speed is everything
  • Best meme wins
What it is
  • Two hours. Longer means worse decisions
  • Most days you enter nothing
  • Being picky beats being fast
  • Whoever exits wins

The hard part is not finding a token. The hard part is saying no fifty-five times in a row when any one of them could have been the one.

Revenge

You lost, so you enter the next one to make it back. Size grows, checks disappear.

Euphoria

You hit 10x and feel like you understand the market. Next entry is triple size, no checks.

Boredom

Two hours, nothing good. You enter anything just to feel something happening.

All three have the same fix: close the laptop. The market will be here tomorrow. Your money might not be.

05

Wallets — the setup that saves you

4 min · do this before your first trade

One wallet for everything is how people lose years of gains in a single click. You need three, and they never talk to each other.

Cold, trading, burner. Money flows one way — from risk toward safety.
🧊
ColdHardware wallet. Never connects to any site. This is where profit goes to die of old age.
TradingYour working wallet. Holds only what you are willing to lose this week.
🔥
BurnerFor claiming airdrops and clicking unknown links. Holds nothing. Expendable.

The seed phrase. Twelve or twenty-four words written on paper, never photographed, never typed into anything except your own wallet app. Anyone asking for it is stealing from you. There are no exceptions — not support, not an admin, not a giveaway.

Profit leaves immediately

Hit your target, send the original amount to cold. Play with what is left.

Trading wallet stays small

If losing everything in it would hurt, it holds too much.

Burner touches everything new

New site, unknown link, random airdrop — burner goes first, always.

06

Anatomy of a rug pull

4 min · you will see this shape again
Twelve minutes of green, forty seconds of red. The shape is always the same.

A rug pull is not a mystery. It follows a script, and the script has tells you can spot before the red candle.

Setup · minutes before launch

Creator funds twenty wallets from one source. Costs him almost nothing.

The pump · first 10 minutes

Those wallets buy. Chart goes vertical. Telegram fills with rocket emojis.

The bait · minute 10–20

Real people see the chart and buy. This is the only money in the token.

The pull · 40 seconds

All twenty wallets sell into the real buyers. Price goes to near zero.

What the numbers looked like 2 minutes before the pull
Top 10 hold 61%
Bundle share 58%
Fresh wallets 44%
Real holders 9%

Every one of those numbers was visible on GMGN before the pull. The chart said buy. The data said run. The data was right.

07

Exits — the part nobody does

5 min · the most expensive chapter
Nobody sells the exact top. People who wait for it end up selling the bottom instead.

Finding a good token is maybe a third of the job. The rest is leaving — and almost nobody plans it before entering.

Laddering out. You take money off the table in pieces, not all at once.
exit plan · decided before entry
entry 1.0 SOL ← fixed, never averaged up
at 2× sell 50% → original money is now safe
at 5× sell 25% → profit banked
at 10× sell 15% → more profit banked
rest ride it → free position, zero stress
stop -50% → leave, no discussion

After selling half at 2×, your original money is back in your pocket. Everything after that is playing with winnings — and that changes how you think. You stop panicking at every red candle.

Write the numbers down before you buy. Not in your head — in a note, on paper, anywhere you can see them. Decisions made while watching a chart move are not decisions, they are reactions.

08

Position size and survival math

4 min · boring, and it keeps you alive

Most people do not lose because they picked badly. They lose because one bad pick was too big.

−50%
needs +100% to recover
−80%
needs +400% to recover
−95%
needs +1900% to recover

That is the whole argument. Losses do not scale linearly — a big one is mathematically much harder to undo than it feels.

sizing · one simple rule
bankroll 10 SOL
max per token 2–5% 0.2 – 0.5 SOL
worst case: 10 losses in a row
→ still have ~7.5 SOL, still playing
the other way: 3 SOL on one "sure thing"
→ one rug and 30% is gone in 40 seconds

The goal is not to win big once. It is to still be here in three months. People who survive long enough eventually catch something — people who size wrong never get the chance.

09

Reading the meta

3 min · why yesterday stopped working
Every meta rises, peaks, and dies. The last people in pay for the first people out.

A meta is whatever theme the market is buying this week — cats, politics, AI agents, a viral clip. It always follows the same arc.

Something happens

A clip goes viral, news breaks. First token appears within minutes.

The first one runs

One token catches it and does 50×. Everyone sees the chart.

The copies flood in

Two hundred versions of the same idea. Ninety-nine percent die instantly.

It dies quietly

Usually within days. Nobody announces it — the buys just stop coming.

By the time a meta is obvious enough to read about, you are late. The copies almost never work. If you missed the first one, the honest move is to skip the theme entirely.

10

Security — how people actually get drained

4 min · read this one twice
Almost nobody gets hacked. Almost everybody gets tricked into signing.

Wallets are rarely broken into. People are talked into opening them. Here is what that looks like in practice.

How it happens
  • "Support" messages you first on Telegram
  • Airdrop site asks you to connect and sign
  • A friend's hacked account sends a link
  • Fake wallet app from a search ad
What stops it
  • Real support never messages first. Ever.
  • Burner wallet for anything unknown
  • Read what you sign — approvals are permanent
  • Download only from the official site
before you sign anything
read the popup. every time. yes, every time.
"swap 0.5 SOL for TOKEN" normal
"approve unlimited spending" stop
"set owner to 0x..." stop
popup you do not understand stop
when unsure — close it. nothing is that urgent.

Nobody legitimate ever needs your seed phrase. Not an admin, not support, not a verification bot, not a "wallet migration". If those words appear in a message, you are already being robbed.

11

Wallets in depth

5 min · the tool you touch every single day

A wallet is not an account. Nobody can reset it, nobody can recover it, there is no support line. It is a key — and whoever holds the key owns whatever it opens.

Phantommost used

Browser extension and mobile app. Easiest to start with, built-in swap, warns you about known scam sites. What most people use, which also means most phishing pages imitate it.

Best for: everyone starting outWeak point: fake copies in search ads
Solflarealternative

Similar to Phantom, slightly more technical. Better staking tools and a cleaner view of what a transaction actually does before you sign it.

Best for: people who like detailWeak point: fewer guides online
Backpacknewer

Built by people from the trading side. Handles multiple wallets in one interface well, which matters once you run separate wallets for separate purposes.

Best for: juggling several walletsWeak point: smaller ecosystem
Ledger / Trezorhardware

A physical device. The key never leaves it — you confirm every transaction by pressing a button on the device itself. Malware on your computer cannot sign anything without your finger.

Best for: anything you cannot afford to loseCost: 60–150 EUR, once

Buy hardware wallets only from the manufacturer. Never from a marketplace, never used, never "sealed" from a stranger. A tampered device comes with a seed phrase the seller already knows.

What actually drains a wallet

the four ways it happens
1. seed phrase typed into a website ← 90% of cases
2. signed a malicious approval ← "connect wallet" on a fake site
3. seed stored in notes / photos / cloud ← phone gets compromised
4. fake wallet app downloaded from an ad ← looks identical
none of these require anyone to "hack" anything
Write the seed on paper

Two copies, two locations. Never a photo, never a file, never a password manager you did not set up yourself.

Test recovery before funding

Restore the wallet on another device while it is still empty. Better to find out now than after your first win.

Revoke old approvals monthly

Every site you ever connected keeps permission until you remove it. Takes two minutes on a revoke tool.

12

Trading apps — what to use in 2026

6 min · honest comparison, no affiliate hype
Most people end up using two: one to find tokens, one to execute.

Every one of these takes roughly 1% per trade. The differences are speed, what they show you, and whether you actually hold your keys. Fees are almost identical — pick on workflow, not on cost.

pump.fun appeasiest start

The official app now does far more than launch tokens. Multichain trading across Ethereum, Base and BNB using SOL — no bridging, no separate gas tokens. Apple Pay funding, one-click trades, live chat in each coin.

Fee: 1.25% on the curve, less after graduationWallet: generated for you, exportable
FOMOcustodial

Mobile-only, built like a social feed. You see what people you follow are buying and can copy a trade with one tap. Sign up with a phone number, fund with Apple Pay, no seed phrase at all. Overtook Axiom in daily Solana volume during 2026.

Fee: ~1%Catch: custodial — you do not hold the keys
Axiomterminal

A full browser terminal. Charts, wallet tracking, migration snipes, perps in one place. Steeper to learn but you stop switching between five tabs.

Fee: ~1%, less at volumeBest for: people doing this daily
GMGNresearch

Where you check a token before buying it anywhere else. Holder concentration, dev wallet history, bundle share, smart money. This is the tool chapter 03 is about.

Use it for: checking, not tradingCost: free to look
Photonspeed

Browser terminal built around execution speed — around 400 ms fills through private nodes. Clean, chart-first, no Telegram bot. Weaker discovery than the others.

Fee: ~1%Best for: manual sniping
BullX / Trojantelegram

Trade from inside Telegram. Handy on a phone, strong copy-trading, multi-chain. The trade-off is that your keys sit in a bot wallet — fund it with trading money only.

Fee: ~0.9–1%Watch out: fake bot clones are everywhere

Custodial vs non-custodial matters more than fees. FOMO and the easy-onboarding apps hold your keys for you. That is genuinely convenient and genuinely risky — if the company disappears, freezes you, or gets breached, your funds go with it. Convenience has a price and the price is control.

Common mistake
  • Using one app for everything
  • Keeping the whole bankroll in a bot wallet
  • Downloading from a search ad
  • Chasing the lowest fee
What works
  • GMGN to check, something else to buy
  • Bot wallet holds one week of trading money
  • Links from the official X account only
  • Pick the one you understand fastest

Trench slang

5 min · so the chat stops being noise
Half of what looks like nonsense in a group chat is actually precise language.
Ape / apingBuying without checking anything."I aped 2 SOL" — usually said right before a loss.
Rug / ruggedCreator sold everything and the price went to zero."Got rugged" — chapter 06 exists so this does not happen to you.
BundleOne person buying from many wallets at once to fake demand. The single most useful number on GMGN.
SniperBot that buys in the first block, before humans can react. If snipers still hold a big share, they are waiting to dump on you.
DevThe token creator."Dev sold" is the most common cause of death.
CAContract address — the token's only real identity.Always buy by pasting the CA, never by searching a name.
McapMarket cap — price multiplied by supply."Called at 40K" means market cap, not the amount someone spent.
GraduationToken leaves the bonding curve for a real pool.Around $69K on pump.fun. Roughly 1 in 100 makes it.
BagsWhat you currently hold."Holding bags" usually means holding something that fell.
JeetSomeone who sells early, often at the first small profit.Used as an insult. Frequently it was the correct decision.
Diamond handsHolding through everything, refusing to sell.Sounds heroic. In memecoins it is usually how 10x becomes 0.
Paper handsSelling quickly out of fear. The opposite insult. Also frequently correct.
MoonbagThe small part you keep after taking profit out.The healthiest habit in this entire list.
RunnerA token that keeps climbing instead of dying.Everyone remembers the one they sold too early.
MetaThe theme the market is buying this week.Cats, politics, AI agents. Chapter 09.
SlippageHow far the price can move before your trade cancels.Too low and nothing fills. Too high and bots eat the difference.
HoneypotYou can buy but the contract will not let you sell.GMGN flags it. Check it every time.
Fresh walletAn address created minutes ago with no history. Many of them at once usually means one person.
Smart moneyWallets with a documented record of profit.Worth watching. Not worth blindly copying.
PnLProfit and loss on a position.Screenshots of wins get posted. Losses rarely do.
Snipers buy in block one. You are never faster — you can only be more selective.

One phrase to be careful with. When a chat fills with "diamond hands" and "never selling", that is usually the moment people who bought earlier are quietly getting out. Language is a signal too.

Educational content only. Not financial, investment or tax advice. Every memecoin can go to zero and most do. Past results do not predict future ones. Adults only (18+).
